Case: Oak case with dial in upper section and glazed panel under.

Size: 63 inches high. 12.5 inches wide, 6.25 inches deep.

Movement: Uses the Hipp Toggle method to impulse the pendulum only when an impulse is needed, unlike both the Gents and Synchronome systems which supply a pulse regularly every 30 seconds. Has metal pendulum rod and heavy metal bob.

The pendulum pushes a pawl which in turn operates a contact. The clock can be fitted with either one or two contact units so as to deliver impulses at chosen rates. The clock is normally supplied with a unit providing impulses at one minute intervals as required by the pilot dial.

Notes: Magneta appear to have based their design for the type 36 Post Office clock on this fine clock. Their design was adopted by the Post Office in preference to others and eventually other companies were allowed to build them under licence. The Post Office type 36 was used in all telephone exchanges in the UK.
