Case: The clock has an attractive gilt spelter case depicting the Arts and Sciences and is surmounted by a rotating globe. The clock stands on a gilt finished gesso sub base with velvet covered upper surface
Size: Including the base, the clock stands approximately 14 inches high o/a and 15 inches wide. Dial diameter approx 3.5 inches.Movement: French with circular plates and with countwheel strike on a bell
The back plate has the Farcot trademark of a shield bearing an anchor with a 5 point star surmounting the shield. Picture of Trademark
Notes: Farcot put serial numbers on his work but records are as yet scanty. The serial number 12975 is marked on both the clock and its pendulum and this together with the shield style of the trademark indicate that this clock probably dates from circa 1868.
