The movement is of 8 day duration and has a platform escapement. It is strongly built and also sets the time wheels of the stamp.
These machines were used for many purposes in offices, one primary use being to put a date on incoming mail as it was received.Notes:
This stamp was made by British Time Recorder Co. Ltd. of 149 Farringdon Road London EC and is so marked on the dial. This is interesting as it enables the item to be dated to within about 12 years because British Bundy (est 1888) became "British Time Recorder Co Ltd" circa 1900 and changed its name to "International Time Recorder Co Ltd" in 1912
