T & N Master Clock

T & N Master Clock

Ref No: w0740

Another picture of the clock with case removed

Case:

Metal case with spray finish
Size: 35 inches high. 13 inches wide, 5.5 inches deep. 8 inch diameter dial with chrome bezel. A seconds hand is fitted.
Movement:
12 volt electromagmet powers a remontoire mechanism The electromagnet flips a heavy flywheel which rewinds a very small weight which in turn powers the clock and also operates a rotary contact once a minute to provide alternate positive and negative pulses to operate slave dials which require these alternate pulses. This system, widely used on the continent, avoids inaccurate timekeeping if there is a poor (bouncy) contact. The pendulum has a heavy cylindrical bob.

The clock also incorporates a program wheel used, for example, to ring school bells at appropriate times.

Notes:
Of German manufacture by the famous Telephonbau & Normalzeit company, the clock is very quiet in operation as the remontoire magnet rotates and does not "hammer" closed as do most English types

The condition of the mechanism is as good as any I have seen, appearing as new. The case would look better for some tender loving care.
