AB Westerstrand & Soner was establiished in 1906 and for the first 50 years the production was mainly concentrated on domestic clocks, such as wall clocks and grandfather clocks.
During the fifties electric clock systems were introduced and became a substantial part of the production. As they had a well known name as a clock manufacturer their market share in electric clocks, master and slave clock systems, sport clocks and hotel systems etc., inreased rapidly in Sweden and other Scandinavian companies so that in 1977 they had some 90% of the scandinavian market.
In the mid seventies the product range was expanded by information boards basd on a bistable technique. The combination of time equipment and large scale information boards built a strong position for the company as suppliers in public communication and sports arenas.
In the eighties most products were converted to electonic operation.
I have read that clocks by this maker were supplied by Synchronome in later years when a smaller system was required
