Stromberg

Alfred Stromberg immigrated to the USA when 23 and found work with the Bell telephone Co

He had a partnership with Androv Carlson in 1894 and made telephone parts. Stromberg and Carlson sold their interest in this company in 1905.

Stromberg then became interested in mechanical devices used to stamp incoming mail and produced an electro-mechanical time stamp machine which was patented. The firm grew rapidly

The General Time corporation purchased all shares in the company in 1935 and carried on operations for 30 years. Since then there have been several owners and since 1989 it has been a division of the New Haven manufacturing Corp.
