American Shelf Clock by Waterbury Clock Company

Gothic style (or steeple) in mahogany veneer. Lower panel of door has gilt design on back of glass. Original label on inside of backboard.
Size: 15 inches high.

Typical american spring wound movement. Has an alarm dial but no alarm work (this would have been a separate unit). Painted zinc dial with open centre.

Identical clock shown inCWT (except different pattern on glass and mine has no alarm unit)CC page 174/5. Interesting example of the early cheap American clock.I think it dates from mid nineteenth century.
