Black Forest Cuckoo Clock
Ref No: 23
Case:
Size: 18 inches high excluding pendulum.
Movement: Wood framed with brass wheelwork. Remnant of thin brass to part of the frame edge
(Apparently used to fool people into thinking the frame was brass). Hands ivory or bone. Strike is on wire gong.
Wood bob to pendulum. Cone weights. Automata Cuckoo has good sound, bird flaps wings and opens beak. Unusually,
there are two doors to his "nest".
Notes: Late 19th century. BEHA stamped on edge of wood frame with the number 133 which is
repeated on the reverse of the front panel and on the door. Repairers date (?) on door 24/1/11. BEHA is the trademark
of Johann Baptist Beha, a firm renowned for cuckoo clocks.BFC
