John Bull Blinking Eye clock
Ref No. 194
Case:Cast iron, painted base has cast in name of original american maker, "Bradley and Hubbard patented 14 july 1847"
Size: About 12 inches high.
Movement: Simple alarm clock type with wires to make eyes move side to side.
Notes:Undoubtedly a fake simulating a "Blinking Eye" clock from an earlier age. Prsumably made in some third world country as the labour of making the mould etc etc would make the price of even a fake rise to the stratosphere in this country.
Warning to Collectors! Up until recently it was reasonably safe to assume that the fakes were made in brass and the real thing from cast iron. The picture has now changed and more care is needed, especially if the cast iron fake has been antiqued.
