Half-round Oak mantel timepiece.

Solid Oak with ball ornamentation to edge and some stringing. Silvered dial with cast brass bezel and integral sight ring. Bevelled flat glass, blued hands.
Size: 6 inches high. Dial diameter approx 4 inches.

With snailed backplate bearing mark G and J either side of a bell. Platform escapement.

Very heavy for its size with unassuming case but good movement. I think it dates from late 19th century. A quality piece attributed to Gillet and Johnson.
