Case: Polished Oak case with glazed front

Size: 55 inches high. 13.5 inches wide, 6.75 inches deep.

Case rear stamped "36 BK. 39/4. 36 FBR 64/6"

I am reliably informed that these markings indicate that the clock was manufactured in 1939 and had a full back to base restoration/rebuild in 1964

Movement: Electric battery driven mechanism, made to P.O. specifications by Messrs Magneta. Has metal pendulum rod believed to be Invar and heavy bob.

Notes: A most attractive master clock, possibly the best known of the Post Office Master Clocks and gave reliable service in exchanges until ousted by Quartz timers during the 1980s. Magneta designed the type 36 clock for the post office clock and it uses the Hipp toggle method of impulsing the pendulum. A big advantage is that the clock is very quiet and does not have the noisy "clonk" of the Pulsynetic as its gravity arm is reset.

These clocks were also manufactured for the Post Office by other makers (Synchronome, Gents and Gillett & Johnston).

Provides pulses at 1 sec, 6 seconds and 30 seconds for exchange equipment.
